St. Valentine's Day, 2006

The last time I had a girlfriend, or anything close to it on Valentine's Day was 2003 with Holli. Three years ago. I was trying to remember what we did on that last Valentine's Day together, but I couldn't recall. Ah well.

So, fast forward to 2006. I was looking forward to this year. I felt like Dani and I had been together long enough that we would do something nice, but not so long for there to be a lot of pressure to do something too nice. I picked up a bottle of wine and some flowers and headed over to her place where we were to eat dinner with her roommate (Robyn) and her boyfriend (John). It was great, we drank wine, chatted, ate cheese, then ate a delicious dinner prepared by John. After that, drinks were had at a neighborhood bar... lovely.

Anyway, point being, as I'm walking around in the subway, I realize how I'm part of that commercial machine known as valentine's day. The number of young dudes walking around with flowers was astronomical. And I was one of them! Kinda made me feel silly, but what choice does one have? You can't not do anything, forget that, the girl would kill you. Gotta play the game I guess.
