What a fun weekend chalked full of Rock and Roll. It all started last Thursday when I saw a band called My Favorite. They were pretty good at some moments, and what I would describe as decent at other times. The singer was cute, I met her later, I went out with some of them after the show, she mentions her boyfriend. Why does this keep happening to me?
Friday, my friend Jason from Seattle came into town so I spent a lot of time with him. Friday was pretty uneventful, just some food and some beers. Woke up Saturday and looked at an apartment and then headed out to Siren Festival. There were a lot of people out there and it made it difficult to see some of the bands I wanted to see. Of course, I did catch the Thermals and they were great. I saw the Constantines, a little bit of TV On The Radio, Electric Six and The Fever. Then I went home. Took a nap, then took a shower. I was going to stay in that night, until Tenytiny called me and convinced me I should go out, so I did. I went out to this place way out in BFE Brooklyn for some crazy Vice party/show. I actually had a great, great time despite being tired. Thanks teny for convincing me! The bands playing that I saw were Moving Units, Bad Wizard, Ambulance LTD and one of the best performances I had seen in a while, The Blue Van. They were this crazy rock band from Denmark. They were very 60's psychedelic rock, sort of like the Sonics, but with some kinks influenced organ thrown in the mix. If you get a chance to see them, DO NOT MISS! After all that, Sunday should have been a day of recovery, but it wasn't. Trail of Dead were playing a super secret, private VICE party show at Rothko, so I couldn't miss that. They played with Read, Yellow, were amazing, smashed a lot of shit, pissed off a lot of people. Typical. I need the chicken suit.
Now, it's Monday. Time for recovery. After weekends like that, I'm glad I'm only working four days a week!
